She didn't notice him at first, but she got the feeling someone was watching her. Hiding and running gives you a sixth sense about those sort of things. When she finally glanced over at him, she was a little surprised by his look. Claire might have been pretty, but that wasn't quite the look he was giving her.

Claire tried to ignore it as her friends gave her a drink, and then another, each one burning as it went down. Finally, curiosity getting the better of her, she decided just to go ask him. It was a pub, so nothing too bad could happen. Right?
