On Star Wars

Luke Skywalker should be shot.

The constant whining is annoying.

ooc: Mun's stuck at airport after flight delays and cancellations. Adam felt the need to alleviate my boredom.

I see you've discovered the wonder of Star Wars.

Don't watch anything that wasn't released after '86 or so.

[identity profile] changehistory.livejournal.com 2007-12-19 09:45 pm (UTC)(link)
I was told I needed to.

...At all, ever?

[identity profile] specialnow.livejournal.com 2007-12-19 09:46 pm (UTC)(link)
Anything Star Wars released after 1986. The director realized that anything with the name 'Star Wars' would make him money and got lazy.

[identity profile] changehistory.livejournal.com 2007-12-19 09:50 pm (UTC)(link)
Ah. All right. I believe someone else told me that.

[identity profile] specialnow.livejournal.com 2007-12-19 09:50 pm (UTC)(link)
Everyone, probably. I was dragged to the first one and wanted to claw my eyes out of my skull.

[identity profile] changehistory.livejournal.com 2007-12-19 09:51 pm (UTC)(link)
That bad?

[identity profile] specialnow.livejournal.com 2007-12-19 09:53 pm (UTC)(link)
That bad.

If science fiction interests you, though, try Blade Runner next.

[identity profile] changehistory.livejournal.com 2007-12-19 10:03 pm (UTC)(link)
Right. I'll avoid.

Ok. That can be added to the list. I missed a lot.

[identity profile] specialnow.livejournal.com 2007-12-19 10:07 pm (UTC)(link)
I bet. At least you have time to catch up on it, now.

[personal profile] gotbottle 2007-12-19 10:08 pm (UTC)(link)
You must be, like, watching the first one, right? He does get better.

And, um. Hi. I'm Rachel.

[identity profile] changehistory.livejournal.com 2007-12-19 10:08 pm (UTC)(link)
Except where new ones come out just as fast, and I'm not sitting around doing nothing but watching films.

[identity profile] changehistory.livejournal.com 2007-12-19 10:09 pm (UTC)(link)
Well, he can't get any worse.

Hello, Rachel. I'm Adam. It's nice to meet you.

[identity profile] specialnow.livejournal.com 2007-12-19 10:10 pm (UTC)(link)
The ones that are worth watching don't come out all that often. There's a lot of crap out there.

[identity profile] changehistory.livejournal.com 2007-12-19 10:11 pm (UTC)(link)
There always was.
gotbottle: (pale)

[personal profile] gotbottle 2007-12-19 10:13 pm (UTC)(link)
It's nice to meet you, too, sir.

I think maybe they were trying to show his growth, through his training? He goes from whiny brat to big strong man, or something. Though I gotta agree with that other gentleman, up above--don't watch anything Mr. Lucas made later. I think he got greedy. They're not up to par with the other films.

[identity profile] changehistory.livejournal.com 2007-12-19 10:14 pm (UTC)(link)
There's no need to call me "sir", Rachel. Adam will do.

Well, showing growth is a good thing to do through an arc of a story. Right now his tone is grating on my nerves and I breathe a sigh of relief every time we switch to someone else. I will keep the admonition in mind and avoid the others, I think.
gotbottle: (flowered dress)

[personal profile] gotbottle 2007-12-19 10:18 pm (UTC)(link)
Yes, sir. I mean... *flustered laugh* Thank you.

It is a good growth thing he goes through. I mean, by the time the third movie comes around, he's totally a different man.

At least Mr. Lucas got one thing right, when he went back and made those really bad prequels? Luke's daddy was a big whiner too. Maybe it was genetic?

[identity profile] specialnow.livejournal.com 2007-12-19 10:28 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh yeah. In the category of things to avoid: Reality television.

[identity profile] changehistory.livejournal.com 2007-12-19 10:28 pm (UTC)(link)
*tilts his head, studying her with a smile* I make you nervous. Why?

Is he? Promise me that, Rachel, or I don't think I can survive getting through them.

Well, some attitudes do seem to pass down, even when fathers and sons do not meet until adulthood, so perhaps you're right.

[identity profile] changehistory.livejournal.com 2007-12-19 10:29 pm (UTC)(link)
Ah. Yes. That I figured out fast.

[identity profile] onlysayinghello.livejournal.com 2007-12-19 10:29 pm (UTC)(link)
It's a drinking game you know.

Take a drink every time he whines, talks about his destiny, the phrase 'my only hope' is repeated, it's not someone's fault...

The List goes on, and really it's the only way to watch those things.

[identity profile] changehistory.livejournal.com 2007-12-19 10:32 pm (UTC)(link)
Oooh...Now that sounds like a FAR better way to do it.

[identity profile] onlysayinghello.livejournal.com 2007-12-19 10:36 pm (UTC)(link)
I did receive a rather expensive lot of whiskey for Christmas from a friend, it's an extensive lot, and trust me there are plenty of drinking games to make movies more bearable.

[identity profile] specialnow.livejournal.com 2007-12-19 10:37 pm (UTC)(link)
There's nothing good about that whole set of shows.

Actually there's not much good television on at all.

[identity profile] mortgaged-soul.livejournal.com 2007-12-19 11:47 pm (UTC)(link)
So I don't make note this is you whining about some fictional character whining, right?

Also, must you always resort to violence. Yes, just typing that did make me smile.
