THE SORCERER

The Sorcerer begins with great potential. He is shining, charismatic, and everyone believes that he will go on to do great things. He, himself, comes to believe it after a while, but only because people say so. In his heart he never outgrows the fear of disappointing, of failure, the fear that he is nothing as powerful or important or loved as he would like to be.

He grows into his power quickly, too quickly for his psyche or his mental and emotional development to support. At some point in his growth he is given a choice between that which he loves and which may yet be pure, and power. The power may be magical, political, psychic, intellectual, or artistic; rarely is it physical. The Sorcerer is, after all, a canon that relies on sheer power only as a last resort. Invariably he chooses power over all, believing that it will best help him to achieve his goals, and thus begins the Fall.

Over time the power begins to corrupt, as he sacrifices more and more of himself to become the arrogant, shining beacon that he pretends to be. The canon of the Sorcerer, however, is also self-knowledge. Even as he falls he is aware of his descent and the spiral of self-loathing, desire, and catharsis drives him further and further to the edge. This descent is easily marked in stages.

Sorcerers may begin in other canons. Most commonly, if they begin in another canon they begin as Priests or Stars. A Stage One Sorcerer will most closely resemble a normal human being. They will be calm, easy, smiling when they are happy, dead-faced or frowning or crying when they are upset. If they begin as another canon, it is at this time that the other traits will be most recognizable. A Stage Two Sorcerer will speak more often in obscurities, layering his comments so that there are at least two meanings, and it is rare that he will admit to doing so. More often he will display false emotions, pseudo cheer or pseudo anger, to achieve a purpose. A Stage Three Sorcerer will continue the worsening trend of speaking in double meanings and will consider himself distanced from most of his relationships. Those who he does have, whom he trusts, he will cling to and try to alienate at the same time, the principle being that the further he falls the more his friends and loved ones must be protected from him. Yet he cannot stand to be alone with his self-hate.

A Stage Four Sorcerer will be more openly self-destructive, and yet will restrain himself to such forms as are socially acceptable. He will test the boundaries and the persistence of his attachments, regarding them (whether or not he admits this) almost exclusively in terms of close friends and pleasant acquaintances. He is more of extremes, may be diagnosable as bipolar or manic-depressive, and display a mercurial temperament. A Stage Five Sorcerer may also be regarded as terminal. No traces of the original canon remain, and his self-destruction has reached the point where it will be remarked on by others if it exists in a form that is understood by his cultural environment. He has the manic charisma of the doomed, attracting sycophants and followers like the proverbial moth to the equally proverbial flame. He is dangerous, difficult to handle, and yet a Stage Five Sorcerer may be the most skilled at handling others. All Sorcerers, it must be noted, are gifted at manipulation.

Peter?

Why, exactly, is Television Without Pity listing you as one of TV's Most Eligible Bachelors?

Clearly I need to have a talk with them about the definition of "bachelor."

I don't expect that conversation to go...pleasantly for them.

[xposted to [livejournal.com profile] musesofbrileith]

So, a discussion of tops and bottoms in slash brought up something interesting, though, doing a more thorough inventory of peoples in my head, I think what I said last night was wrong. [only now that I've written it all out, maybe not as wrong as I thought at first, at 130 AM] While working on a possible one-off in Eden!verse (may or may not translate into "canon" there) that grew up out of almost meta-ish AIM chat, the person I'm writing with noted that it would be her first time writing a slash top. I commented, then, that while I'd written bottoms, most of those in my head were tops, so it was different for me, too. She and I write other pairings and, seriously--my muses are so all the tops in those. *eyes Adam, who whistles innocently*

After we'd signed off and I was attempting to sleep, jet lag hit and that meant I ended up rehashing conversation. Why I'm feeling the need to write down my thoughts on my muses when I ought to be catching up on tags or work or prompts is beside me, but there ya go, and here you go, for anyone who's interested.

Sex: Adam, Sark, Wesley, Methos, Byron, Devin, Midir, Marissa, Surreal, Melissa, Keelia, and, oh yeah, Mohinder )

[After/At the same time as this conversation/flirtation with Illyria]

Wesley: You were flirting with her.
Adam: ...So?
Wesley: Don't.
Adam: Or what?
Wesley: *cocks a gun, points it at his head*
Adam: Don't you think that's a bit on the extreme side?
Wesley: No.
Adam: She wasn't even your Illyria.
Wesley: She's Illyria.
Adam: Oh, please. You have one. And a Fred. And Methos. And Soren. And Faith, if you play your cards right. Oh, and the vampire girl...
Wesley: She doesn't count. You have seven Peters, seven Elles, three Hiros, Jack Harkness and Maggie. And Melissa. And Sark.
Adam: Oh, that's just not right. Some of those Peters and Elles and all of the Hiros are the same. You're counting timelines/universes and fic that has nothing to do with RP. I didn't count Fred twice! Or mention the dead bint. And leave Sark out of it.
Sark: Yes, please. Far, far out of it.
Adam: Aww, puppy, that's not a fun attitude to take.
Sark: You're the one who said it.
Adam: You know I didn't mean it like that...
Wesley: *frustrated, interrupts* I stand by my count. And I'm fairly certain you were flirting with Sylar yesterday.

Dear Bria,

I am a villain, if you have forgotten. I tried to destroy the world, then rebuild it in my own image and set myself up as God. I used Peter, tricked him, manipulated him. I murdered Hiro's father. I had Maury attack Angela. I released Victoria just so she would pick up the gun and aim it at Peter, and I could kill her in front of him and justify it as saving his life.

I tried to release a virus to kill everyone slowly, not once, but twice. I pretty much ordered Peter to kill Hiro if there was no other way to stop him.

I am still planning on doing very bad things to Bob before he dies.

I think Sylar is really cool, so long as he leaves me off of his killing spree. He can have Claire to get his immortality, and we can be friends.

See? Evil.

Maybe I have the best of fucked up intentions. Perhaps I really do want to build a better world. Possibly I'm completely insane from 30 years of torture or being buried alive. But, whatever the reason, it does not negate the fact that I am a cold, manipulative, wicked bastard.

But you have me adopting kittens from shelters, working to reform myself to be worthy (excuse me? Who said I wasn't more than worthy already?) of the hero's love, contemplating taking over the Company--not for evil schemes but to really do good, and buying cute Slayers Batmobiles just to make them smile.

I do not need to reform. I am beyond fine, just as I am. I do not need to apologize for my actions repeatedly.

Before you know it, you'll have me turned into a genuine hero, and that, my love, is a terrifying thought.

Get over it.

Now.

I'm the bad guy. If you want me to play nice and make everyone around me think that I am not, fine.

But, for god's sake--don't you forget it, too.

Persistently scheming new dark schemes,
Adam

I want it noted that while I may be pro-chaos in a lot of ways, I tend to go about getting it in an organized fashion.

I Am A: Chaotic Evil Human Sorcerer (5th Level)

Ability Scores:

Strength-15

Dexterity-15

Constitution-18

Intelligence-15

Wisdom-15

Charisma-17

Alignment:
Chaotic Evil A chaotic evil character does whatever his greed, hatred, and lust for destruction drive him to do. He is hot-tempered, vicious, arbitrarily violent, and unpredictable. If he is simply out for whatever he can get, he is ruthless and brutal. If he is committed to the spread of evil and chaos, he is even worse. Thankfully, his plans are haphazard, and any groups he joins or forms are poorly organized. Typically, chaotic evil people can be made to work together only by force, and their leader lasts only as long as he can thwart attempts to topple or assassinate him. Chaotic evil is sometimes called demonic because demons are the epitome of chaotic evil. Chaotic evil is the best alignment you can be because combines self-interest and pure freedom. However, chaotic evil can be a dangerous alignment because it represents the destruction not only of beauty and life but also of the order on which beauty and life depend.

Race:
Humans are the most adaptable of the common races. Short generations and a penchant for migration and conquest have made them physically diverse as well. Humans are often unorthodox in their dress, sporting unusual hairstyles, fanciful clothes, tattoos, and the like.

Class:
Sorcerers are arcane spellcasters who manipulate magic energy with imagination and talent rather than studious discipline. They have no books, no mentors, no theories just raw power that they direct at will. Sorcerers know fewer spells than wizards do and acquire them more slowly, but they can cast individual spells more often and have no need to prepare their incantations ahead of time. Also unlike wizards, sorcerers cannot specialize in a school of magic. Since sorcerers gain their powers without undergoing the years of rigorous study that wizards go through, they have more time to learn fighting skills and are proficient with simple weapons. Charisma is very important for sorcerers; the higher their value in this ability, the higher the spell level they can cast.
