Meta thought of the night brought to you by my mun's trip to airport...

Small, yapping dogs carted about in strollers: Yet another reason to push the restart button on humanity.

I'm a geneticist, not an anthropologist. Or an ethnographer. I have no idea.

It is wrong on so many levels that I cannot even begin to unravel it. Dogs are not accessories.

[identity profile] occupymymind.livejournal.com 2007-12-23 10:17 am (UTC)(link)
People have used most things as accessories. Clothes, jewels, animals, you know, there is a trend in America of encrusting exotic cockroaches with jewels and gluing a chain to them and wearing them as a living broach.

I wish I were joking.

Right.

The more I hear, the more convinced I am that I was right.

[identity profile] occupymymind.livejournal.com 2007-12-23 10:21 am (UTC)(link)
It's all right, most people agree that it's total lunacy.

Although some days...

[identity profile] occupymymind.livejournal.com 2007-12-23 10:26 am (UTC)(link)
I believe so. Watch not the woman with the dog, but those watching her.

I'm not convinced humanity's wonder outweighs all else. But those days usually pass.

[identity profile] changehistory.livejournal.com 2007-12-23 10:29 am (UTC)(link)
I admit I was too appalled to look away.

The longer you live, the more days it takes for them to pass.

[identity profile] occupymymind.livejournal.com 2007-12-23 10:38 am (UTC)(link)
It can be that way, but really. Look to the reactions of others.

I don't think that will really be a concern with the way my life has been going.

[identity profile] changehistory.livejournal.com 2007-12-24 01:47 am (UTC)(link)
As a redeeming part of humanity?

No?

[identity profile] occupymymind.livejournal.com 2007-12-24 01:50 am (UTC)(link)
To confirm the lack of societal normalacy in attitudes towards handbag dogs.

No.

[identity profile] changehistory.livejournal.com 2007-12-24 01:56 am (UTC)(link)
Ah.

That's a very negative attitude to take.

[identity profile] occupymymind.livejournal.com 2007-12-24 02:01 am (UTC)(link)
It's fatalistic, not negative. There's a difference.

[identity profile] changehistory.livejournal.com 2007-12-24 02:04 am (UTC)(link)
I don't believe in fatalism.

[identity profile] occupymymind.livejournal.com 2007-12-24 02:06 am (UTC)(link)
I do. It's serving me well. I'm facing less disappointments with it.

[identity profile] changehistory.livejournal.com 2007-12-24 02:07 am (UTC)(link)
But where is the hope? The dreaming? What gets you out of bed each morning?

Or have you let them completely steal your soul?

[identity profile] occupymymind.livejournal.com 2007-12-24 02:09 am (UTC)(link)
I think left hope somewhere in Bob's office, and dreams back in my apartment. I get up for my daughter.

[identity profile] changehistory.livejournal.com 2007-12-25 07:29 am (UTC)(link)
A valid enough reason, but she needs more than that.

[identity profile] occupymymind.livejournal.com 2007-12-26 12:36 am (UTC)(link)
She has more. Her other guardian is with her.

[identity profile] changehistory.livejournal.com 2007-12-27 12:59 am (UTC)(link)
I meant hope and a belief in something. As a parent, it is your job to impart that to her.

[identity profile] occupymymind.livejournal.com 2007-12-27 01:07 am (UTC)(link)
As a parent, I don't get to see her anymore.

[identity profile] occupymymind.livejournal.com 2007-12-27 03:26 am (UTC)(link)
All right. You work out how to stop Sylar coming after me or the Company usig her as leverage, and I'll be more than happy to.

[identity profile] changehistory.livejournal.com 2007-12-27 04:57 am (UTC)(link)
The Company will not be an issue much longer.
