[OOC] Four Quartets Verse

changehistoryBecause this one has been spread out over 6 journals and Adam, Melissa and Lydia, at least, Tweet from it rather frequently, I thought I'd set out the basics of what's gone down and where everyone's at now, 'cause I've gotten a few, "..o.O?" from folks. :-) Yes, it's very AU.
This verse was created basically when three separate PSLs converged, because it occurred to us all that they fit together pretty well.

Adam & Peter:
Originally this was a "OMG FIX VOL 3" line. Arthur did not take Adam's power, just his blood, thanks to Maury's intervention, and Adam was able to escape. He did so, getting out of town and figuring Angela and Arthur could fight it out and he'd deal with whomever was left standing, or say fuck them all and just start over elsewhere. The starting over plan was working pretty well, until the government started hunting down specials, courtesy of Nathan. Peter ran into Adam while on the run. (The formula had given him back his original ability, so he was able to reabsorb new ones and hold on to more than one, but had to reacquire) For some reason he stayed. Peter wanted to fix things. Adam wanted to either run or blow everyone to hell. Unable to find a compromise, they ended up in Canada, hiding from the government, trying to sort of wait things out, make some sort of life for themselves. Until Adam proposed something so utterly ridiculous Peter couldn't help but go along with it.
And once at a Faerie Con in Baltimore, they ran into Sylar and Melissa, and everything started to change.
Sylar & Melissa:
Melissa was a journalist for the New York Times, but the story she was working on was a personal one. For all her life, she'd been trying to find out what it was that made her different. Her ability manifested when she was 3, but as it was a quiet one--she escaped Company notice. She, however, finally found out about them. Sadly, her timing sucked, and she ended up in Hartsdale just in time to watch the building burn. Once the fire was out, she ventured in, though, and there she found Sylar. She pulled the glass out of his head, reviving him, and they formed an unlikely partnership--sort of a reverse Superman/Lois Lane thing, determined to find out the Company's secrets and who exactly they were in all of this. Sadly, in the course of their searching, Nate and Danko started hunting specials and getting in their way, and if Melissa wasn't on their radar before, the fact that she was with Sylar made them aware of her, now. Especially after she helped him get rid of a few agents. Somewhere in there, they fell in love.
They hid out at her parents house for a little while, which was hell on poor Sylar, but gave them a safe haven, and passed mostly without incident, except for her father walking in on them during sex, and Sylar feeling the need to stalk her grandmother now and again. But they were putting them in danger just by being there, and eventually had to leave.
Itching for fun, and both of them more than a little reckless, Melissa talked Sylar into taking her to Faerie Con, where they ran into Adam and Peter, and an alliance was formed.
Samuel & Lydia:
Less links here (err, as in, really, none) as most of it's been played out in AIM, but we're working on that. ;-) VERY AU, in some ways, because to fit the other two in, we had to go pretty far back--things obviously couldn't play out the way they did in canon, or Samuel wouldn't have been in charge at the time Adam, Peter, Sylar and Melissa were meeting up. So. Danko found out about the carnival, and sent men (he'd captured someone with a compass and brought them along forcefully to use it), who attacked the carnival. (This is going to be written out, fyi, when Alishia and I are actually home and online at the same time) Joseph was killed, along with several others. Samuel saved Lydia. Adrenaline, anger, fear combined to help Samuel with a power surge from the family that was there, and he was able to use his ability to drive the attackers off, and they shifted the carnival out of there and to safety, but the damage was done.
With Joseph's death, Samuel took over, and with the attack and loss of so many, he's bent on power and revenge, determined to bring Nathan and Danko down for what they've done, and make sure no one can ever hurt any of the family ever again. Lydia's trying to temper it some, but she can't really tell him he's wrong after what they've been through, and she's sort of in "Stand By Your Man" mode. With Lydia's help he's been finding other powerful specials to pull to the carnival, and it was she who tipped him off about the gathering of Peter, Sylar, Adam and Melissa in Baltimore. He met them there, and when their plan to get through to Nathan failed miserably (Matt died, they all got branded federal terrorists, oops?), he offered them sanctuary in the carnival.
Now, though, the carnival's a standing ground for two of the most powerful specials the world has ever known--both struggling with Sylar's hunger and Peter getting slammed with ALL those abilities around him at once ('cause that generally goes well), nevermind the two specials with the most grudges between them, and least reason to trust each other. Add in Adam's world-conquering and vengeance ambitions coupled and added to Samuel's urge for power and revenge, as well--and this could all end up very badly for anyone not them. Or, if they can't keep it together? For them, as well.
Oh, and Lydia just found out she's pregnant.
