Date: 2010-07-19 07:51 pm (UTC)Hmmm...Adam is really very fond of Peter. Though saying "really very fond" is an understatement in the way that saying the ocean is "kinda big" is an understatement. It's got a slight obsessive quality to it, rooted in a lot of his own issues, which he tries hard to hide.
He cares about him. When they first met, he sort of figured he'd make a good tool, and a nice instrument for revenge, given who he was and what he could do, but Peter...Peter is one of those people that Adam stopped believing existed a long time ago. He's the person Kensei thought Hiro was, someone to inspire, someone to believe in. He has ideals that Adam doesn't get fully--life's been too hard, too long--but that he wants to get. He's the hero Adam wanted to be, once upon a time. And Adam knows he'll never be that. He knows he's the villain in the story, but Peter gives him hope for redemption, and in Peter he sees someone he wouldn't mind being redeemed for. Peter makes him hope again, makes him want to be better.
There's the other side, of course, that wants to corrupt him, and show him how wrong he is, and bring him down to Adam's level because, really, Adam doesn't think Peter's view of the world is possible, but if Peter were ever to fall, I think he'd lose most of his appeal for Adam. Sure, he gets sort of fascinated by broken!Peters but...it's not the same. For all he might argue with him, he needs Peter out there as a shining example that the world isn't as lost as he thinks it is, that there's some reason to go on, to keep fighting, to keep living.

Date: 2010-07-19 10:27 pm (UTC)On the other hand, where they have become an item, he's falling for her far harder than I think he's willing to admit to himself. It's been a long time since he's had someone in his life he felt he could trust, and Jen fills that need sublimely. She takes care of him, takes care of his kids, makes sure his life runs smoothly--she gets how to handle him, and omg, you and I both know how huge that is. Like, HUGE. She knows when to push, when to back off, when to distract. She gets him, gets his vision, supports him no matter how crazy his ideas are. She's not a doormat, though--doesn't give the impression, at all, that he could walk all over her. He respects her utterly, but there's this feeling he has that she has his back, and he trusts her, and for Adam--that's the safest, most wonderful feeling in the world. He can relax with her, be himself with her, and like she said the other day about him making her feel free to be herself--she does the same for him. He doesn't have to wear a mask for her, and she's not afraid of the man underneath, and that means more to him than he can say. It's freeing and intoxicating and lovely all at the same time.

Date: 2010-07-19 10:32 pm (UTC)Molly - no matter the verse, Adam loves her. Where she's being raised by Mohinder, he sees her as a sort of surrogate niece. She lets him tell his pirate stories and thinks he's cool, and he likes people who think he's cool. She's smart and insightful, and he would very much like to groom her into the next generation of heroes who, y'know, worship the ground he walks on. *facepalms* Where he's raising her, she's his princess. He'd do most anything for her, and pretty much thinks the world revolves around her. She's got him wrapped around her little finger rather pathetically, and he thinks she hung the moon.
Grandma Suresh - I don't think he has much of feeling about Grandma Suresh one way or the other except that she should have taught Mohinder better fashion sense.
