"This is...I keep expecting holes to rip in the universe or something. I've met a time traveler from the future before--Hiro--but not anyone from a future that I know isn't going to happen for me."
The waitress came with their coffee, and he waited until she and her saucy looks were gone again before going on.
"I have so many questions, but then I think you must get that a lot here, from anyone who knows you, and I feel like...until that day where things changed and the timelines split, I know so much about what your life was, but I don't know you and you don't know me at all which is...very disconcerting." Best to just get the awkwardness out there in the open, so they could deal with it, he thought, rather than spending the whole time shifting nervously around each other.
