Hee it is quite a maddening brilliance yes? The two men that can never die... actually finding each other? The fact that I'm actually able to mysteriously tie Heroes INTO Torchwood? That's also brilliant. See Jack knew the 21st century was when it was all gonna change, and HELLO? Heroes fandom is TOTALLY CHANGING it all.
It's something I've been trying to figure out myself actually. See when we started this it was just one of those HEY LOOK PRETTY BOYS and they can't die! type things. Then we realized like how much in common they had and how long they'd been watching everyone else die around them, and the trust and everything and we were like Oh... this is a bit more than the pretty. Then it was the whole, how is Jack going to forgive him for the whole 93% thing? Which I of course think that it's the thought that Adam really thinks he's doing the right thing. Jack let the fairies take the girl, he's made those crappy choices himself and while we know he'd never have been like Oh well it's okay you wanted to do that, we figured he'd be more like it's okay that you thought that was what you needed to do.
Now I'm having it mostly be pretty vague as to HOW the virus started from Jack's point of view. I also figure he's got some mental list of all the events that set off the overall chain reaction of the big change in the world. He's always said he has to make sure everyone is ready, nothing about stopping it from happening. So I have it that he knew about the Virus, that he knew it started in Odessa and that it wiped 93% of the population, but he also knows that there was supposed to be an explosion in Kirby Plaza that demolished it, but instead it was in the sky, and he's figuring he's not alone in the quest for these things. It's kinda hard to rationalize how much he knows specifically and how much he doesn't know at any certain point. We also don't want the reason Jack came to Adam in the first place have some sort of agenda, so he can't know that Adam was the source of the virus.
They've never really talked about it either, mostly because the only scene we have is them in New York for the parade, and the rest of the chitter in IM and comments is mostly about making a difference and taking risks and such.
Jack though now? now that he just had to dig him out of a grave? he's got questions he doesn't want to ask but he's gonna ask.
But that's the thing. Adam thinks it's right for his desires, but he knows it's not the right thing to do. He knows what he's doing is mass genocide. He just doesn't care because mass genocide fits his plans.
Yeah, it's gonna be something we're gonna have to see what happens. Having Jack not know the details right now is a saving grace, and it's going to be something we sort out once it starts getting toward the truth of it. I'm trying to sort out Jack a bit before trying to figure out how he's gonna react before it even has to get to that point, but it really is something we've only just started to talk about and discuss since I put the whole Heroes thing as one of the things that changes the world.
He knows it's morally evil, yes. He fully recognizes that it's mass genocide. But he also genuinely thinks it's what the world needs--to hit a restart button. He's got serious god-delusions and the flood analogy (which I so used a week ago before he started in on it last night--can I say how much that made me squee?) is exceptionally strong. So it's very much a, "People need to die for the world to start over the right way, and I know what that right way is."
But, yes. He knows most people will find this "wrong"--and thus has been very vague with Jack about how exactly he's planning to "save" the world.
When Jack figures it out? Heh. We haven't figured that out yet.
It almost could take on Master/Doctor elements with how Ten wanted to save and be responsible for Saxon. Some sort of "You don't have to be alone, but I'm not going to let you keep doing this shit" thing. But there's no plan in place for how they're going to deal when Jack figures it all out.
