Adam Monroe

I feel that's all I do anymore.

I had this whole great idea for party part 2. I worked it out with a couple of other muns. Ghost!Arthur (because Adam had Sylar kill him with Bela's help) and Ghost!Maury (because Adam and Sylar killed him) were going to lock everyone downstairs in the vault and using some of their demon friends from Hell render powers useless somehow so it would be up to our more demonic-fighting guests to figure out a way to get people out (i.e. Dean, Sam, Bela, any other supernatural fighting types who wanted to, etc).

However, I had my Board meeting last night and found out that instead of having the bylaws completely revised by the end of December, as was my plan, I need to have them done in six days. So... a six week deadline just became six days AND my boss just brought back a regulation to revise that I need off my desk by Friday that's over 80 pages.

I currently have over 80 tags in my inbox I owe people. I cannot in good conscience start up another post wherein two of my muses would be key players when I know there's no way I'd be able to devote any real attention to it. I am so sorry. I feel like I promised all this stuff and failed to deliver. But RL has to come first.

I hope people are having fun and just enjoy the party as a party, sans supernatural threats. Maybe we can make it an annual event and Arthur and Maury can have a whole demon army ready to attack by next year, which will not be a Session year for me.

If Bobby Van had transformed the old bank into a stunning restaurant and party venue, Adam Monroe, upon renting it, had transformed it further.

There are two floors, and it almost seems two themes, though they flow into one another fairly well, given the layout of the bank. Upstairs was for show for the customers, and for the party, it is where the majority of the food is. It's what you see when you come in. Old Hollywood elegance reigns here, with red silk table cloths and black roses on each one. Waiters circulate quietly, making sure champagne and scotch is easily accessible, and waitresses carry around trays of a wide selection of light and heavy hor d'oeuvres. There is a polished dance floor and a live band playing a wide musical range that fits the theme that is prevalent here.

Downstairs is a different story. This is the vault proper, where the bank's dirty secrets, and those of its customers were kept. Here the tables are draped in black velvet, and candles line every surface held in place and kept safe by a certain witch Adam's befriended of late. There are still tables down here, scattered mostly around the edges of the large vault floor, but most have been cleared away. The floor and the walls all gleam with a muted golden glow like tarnished silver, reflecting the soft lights in a way in that make the whole place seem to shine, but not brightly. There are shadows that loom in the corners, and the vault itself seems to twist and turn back into the earth underneath the building that used to be a bank. With a great deal of persuasion, Adam convinced them to open up the older areas that aren't used for venues, and with a great deal of work paid for with a great deal of money, they shine just as well, but there's a feel to them of something fallen, something corrupt. Anyone could be planning anything back here. Capone could have hidden something back in those vaults that almost feel like crypts. He smirks a bit at the idea, the vague sense of atmosphere, the urge to turn, to look behind him, the expectation of seeing someone with a gun and a cigar, or something worse, the ghosts of a past long buried resurrected for one night only. The music here pulses with a different beat, darker as well, and there are plenty of places to disappear into should people feel the need to take advantage of them.

It isn't truly spooky in a traditional Halloween sense, but it's disquieting in a far more subtle way, and that has always been his preference.

Overall, the host is pleased. And, in a fit of whimsy, has chosen to come dressed as Batman, because, Old Hollywood movie theme going on or not, he is a bit of a dork at heart.

NOTE: There WILL be a Part 2 that will go up, maybe Sat or Sun (depending on how busy I get with my dad) with something happening unexpected to party guests more plottish and such so feel free to look for that and react to it and even if you haven't tagged into this post, feel free to tag into that one at that point and just assume your muse has been there all along, or arrives after that point. :-D]
