(Yes. Adam definitely needs to never mention anything like "working my way through the family" either. Or even hint he thinks Nathan might be his. lol. He's smarter than that with Peter, I think? Urgh. Sleep is good, though)
You know, I don't think I could ever own a cat... they kind of make me think of my mother, and that's just... no.
(And omg it gets worse! If Peter knew this -- eek!! Although this is the one place I actually go with the comic canon (one of these days I need to post my non-canon canon rant...) -- Arthur looks SO much like Nathan in the comics that I can't believe anyone else is his dad. And it explains some of the creepy bad-touch!Mom scenes with Nathan. Unlike the bad-touch!Mom scenes with Peter, which just freak me out...
And randomly, the reason Angela can't figure out how to deal with Peter in any kind of workable way is because he's an empath and she wouldn't understand emotion if it jumped up and bit her!)
((Well but now we know the bad touch is all about her ability rather than it being incestual. Which, I admit, is something I adore. I really didn't like the whole subtext there but then I am one of a handful of people in the world that is ugh on Petrellicest. So knowing now what we do about her ability, it works so much better for me... not that they care about me. *g*
I do think the Adam ideal is supported by Claire, in that she has the same power as Adam and several, like the Parkman's, share the same power through hereditry.
I also think that's limiting her a lot. I think she well does understand emotion and the way it works. I think she's become bitter with time and, in truth, a lot of it has to be with being one of only two females in what is looking more and more like an old boys club of one ego against the other. I think Peter pays for not being planned, for interupting her plans as an unexpected pregnancy.
No problem at all -- I love seeing where other people are coming from when they play characters :)
The only Petrellicest I like is Nathan/Peter. Thinking about Angela and either of the boys squicks me. I know the scenes with Angela has to do with her ability, but omg have you seen the deleted scene when Peter wakes up from the coma? It completely creeps me out the way she's all over him...
I don't think the powers breed all that true, but we've seen so few examples so far it's hard to tell. After all, Nathan can fly and Meredith's a firestarter. I'd like them to give us more info on that, actually; have a more definite idea of how random the abilities actually are.
And sorry -- I was being kind of flip and snarky. Although I wonder -- is it official that Peter was unplanned? I kind of got the 'heir and a spare' idea instead, but I don't read a lot of the interview things for fear of running into spoilers.
I-- Nathan flew me out of there and-- god, I hurt him so badly. I nearly killed him... I brought him to that hospital and-- Elle zapped me. I woke up in Bob's office.
Yeah -- the old one, from the 60's. I saw them on reruns. There was an episode where they tried to unite the world against a fake threat -- got this decent, patriotic guy to volunteer to be turned into a scary alien. In the end, all they succeeded in doing was getting him killed and hurting his family... *sighs, looks very sad* You can't engineer something like that to 'save' the world -- it doesn't work. My mom, the Company, whoever tries it. The cost is always too high...
Do you really think so? What if it had worked, and the world had come together as one, united past all the petty differences that separate them, usually?
I don't know... What would happen when it came out that people had been manipulated? That the 'threat' was a lie? And what would keep everyone united when the 'threat' was gone? It's no different from World Wars or any other gigantic disaster... *shakes his head sadly* I don't know. Maybe if I wasn't the one being set up to be a mass murderer I'd feel differently. I can't hurt people like that... Why do you think I want to help you stop the Company so badly?
