I-- Nathan flew me out of there and-- god, I hurt him so badly. I nearly killed him... I brought him to that hospital and-- Elle zapped me. I woke up in Bob's office.

Nathan sacrificed his own health to save New York. We gave it back to him. Bob...likely was upset you "failed" in destroying the city.

Yeah -- the old one, from the 60's. I saw them on reruns. There was an episode where they tried to unite the world against a fake threat -- got this decent, patriotic guy to volunteer to be turned into a scary alien. In the end, all they succeeded in doing was getting him killed and hurting his family... *sighs, looks very sad* You can't engineer something like that to 'save' the world -- it doesn't work. My mom, the Company, whoever tries it. The cost is always too high...

Do you really think so? What if it had worked, and the world had come together as one, united past all the petty differences that separate them, usually?

I don't know... What would happen when it came out that people had been manipulated? That the 'threat' was a lie? And what would keep everyone united when the 'threat' was gone? It's no different from World Wars or any other gigantic disaster... *shakes his head sadly* I don't know. Maybe if I wasn't the one being set up to be a mass murderer I'd feel differently. I can't hurt people like that... Why do you think I want to help you stop the Company so badly?

It's not your fault. Our family... Nathan practically raised me. Dad was always disappointed in me and Mom just... If it wasn't for Nathan I'd be completely useless.

I get the feeling I never really knew my father. I distanced myself from him so much, and only saw the things I wanted to see... *sighs* Sometimes I wonder... if he knew about the plan, and knew one of his children was the sacrifice, was he so cold so he wouldn't be hurt when it happened?
